THURSDAY 4 JULY 202Election Day
We decides to spent the day in South WEALD PARK.
We have had a lovely time learning new songs, the latest one is about making a cake. Add a little bit of this and a little bit of that of what we like best. When it came to add some ice-cream the children were in fits of laughter, which started the adults off as well.
The children enjoyed the science activity adding water to a jar, and spraying shaving cream on top of the opening of the jar. They then used a pipette to drip some blue food colour on top of the cloud and watched how the colour came through the cloud. They were looking in amazement, saying look it is raining.
We did it twice and learned that one of the experiment was not as successful as the other one, because too much shaving cream had been added to the jar.
We hope you are going to have a lovely and relaxing Bank Holiday.
Although I have given you plenty of notice about the Election Day I forgot to mention that we use Election Day as one of our 3 training days. Like schools, we are entitled to have inset/training days.
As the Caretakers are unable to access the hall on Thursday night in time to do a deep clean because of COVID 19 we have the added day Friday 7 May, of which the pre-school can't use hall.
Thank you

Letter to Parents
Back to School Poster (Information from Essex County Council about returning to Pre-School).
May 2020
Dear Parent,
In line with the Government proposal for schools, nurseries and pre-schools to reopen on 1 June, we are planning to re-open our preschool to you. I would appreciate if you could let us know what your intentions are: ‘keeping your child at home or sending your child back to pre-school’ for the second part of the Summer Term. This will give us an idea of what steps we need to take for planning our social distancing in and outdoors. Once I have gathered your information on the number of children who will be attending the pre-school each day, I will send you an update.
Coronavirus Plan!
Being outdoors is less likely to pass the virus, so activities and learning should predominantly take place outdoors whilst maintaining social distancing. Field walks behind the Village Hall the Green adjacent to the premises and the playground will give us opportunities to take advantage on being outdoors (weather permitting).
-
Parents to keep their social distance (2 meters) from other parents and children at all times ( car park ) and must not enter the hall.
-
Markings in the hall to indicate direction of travel between activities set up in a circular motion – children encouraged to ask before moving to another activity.
-
To reduce the spread of infection the windows should be open, to aid ventilation.
-
PPE (aprons and gloves) to be worn by staff (changed regularly).
Hygiene & Cleaning -
Children’s temperatures will be measured by a member of staff on entrance into the pre-school. The thermometer will be held in front of the child’s forehead hence avoiding any bodily contact.
-
Children will be taken by a practitioner to wash hands individually or in pairs maintaining social distance.
-
Ensure that all areas have cleaning sprays and paper cloths ready and out of reach of children.
-
Clean equipment/toys after each child before the next child can use it.
-
Tables, chairs, touch points and toilets to be cleaned regularly throughout the day.
-
Cleaning door handles etc. at the end of the morning/doors propped open to minimise touching.
-
Hard resources including outdoor toys and pencils touched by children will need to be cleaned before different children can use them.
Procedure of washing hands
-
Ensure that children take their time in spreading the soap around their hands and fingers (20 seconds) with running water and soap or sanitiser and ensuring good respiratory hygiene by promoting the catch it, bin it, kill it approach.
-
Adult toilets – cleaning products available for cleaning to take place after each use. (Dettox spray and paper towels).
Dropping off/collection
-
Parents must keep their social distance when dropping off/and picking up their children.
-
Staff member will sign children in/out as children arrive.
-
Upon collection, parents will be asked to leave immediately and should not stand chatting with other parents.
-
Children’s coats/bags are hung up on a peg by child and packed lunch box to be placed on hatch by children.
-
All soft cushions and toys difficult to clean are not to be out.
Lunch and refreshments
-
All children and staff must bring their own refreshments (multiple drinks will be required).
-
Children can eat their lunch on a designated table. Weather permitting, the group can eat outside adhering social distancing.
-
Indoor tables must be cleaned after lunch using hot soapy water and antibacterial spray.
-
The floor in the lobby will be marked where visitors need to stand to adhere to social distancing.
-
Parents have the right to decide that school is not currently safe enough for their child to attend (and must notify of their decision).
-
Parents of children who live with an adult who has received a shielding letter or have this letter themselves should think carefully whether the child should attend pre-school.
-
Parents may want to re-evaluate this on a weekly basis and need to inform pre-school of their decision.
From the DFE:
If a child/young person or staff member lives in a household with someone is extremely clinically vulnerable, as set out in the guidance on shielding, it is advised they only attend an education childcare setting if stringent social distancing can be adhered and follow those instructions. This may not be possible for very young children and older children without the capacity to adhere to the instructions on social distancing. If stringent social distancing cannot be adhered to, we do not expect those individuals to attend.”
If these children do attend, parents are requested to make clear to the teacher of the shielding concern for us to monitor carefully if the child is responding positively to the social distancing rules.
Kind regards,
The Ladybird Team

Hello Song.
Perhaps your children would like to continue our daily song with you and the family at home.
Hello mummy how are you, hello mummy how are you ,hello mummy how are you, how are you today.
All children enjoy singing this song and clapping their hands, (can be done at various speed). The child / adult should then reply and state how they are feeling.
Happy, good, sad etc. This activity can be extended by having an open discussion, on what makes us happy , feeling good or sad.
Covers the Personal , Social and Emotional Development From the Early Years Foundation Stage.
Hope you will enjoy it !! 🐞

We hope that you are all keeping well !!
We miss you and hope that we will be able to return to some normality in the foreseeable future. In the meantime stay well and safe.
Minibeasts would have been our topic for some of the Summer Term correlating with our choice of Concert.
Worm String Painting
This is a fun, messy activity which is more suitable for children over the age of two, however children from about eighteen months will also be able to do this activity but may need more help.
You will need:
§ lengths of string
§ Brown paint
§ Plain paper
Activity:
Pour some brown paint into a bowl or tray and drop the string into the paint. Children can lift the string out of the paint and drop onto their paper, they can also drag the string across the paper to create more lines and patterns.
Alternatively get the children to work as a group to create one large display for the wall instead of individual pictures.
Areas of learning covered:
§ Creative development
§ Knowledge and Understanding of the World
§ Language, Literacy and Communication skills
§ Personal and Social development
Will keep in touch and forward other activities.
If you prefer to be send a copy by email, please let me know. In case that you have not added your email address to your child's registration form, may I suggest that you forward the details to me.
Thank you

Fun Fact File for Spiders 🕷
Spiders have a special name : Arachnids
Spiders have special pads on their feet which help them to walk on ceiling and walls.
Spiders have eight legs and eight eyes - but they still can't see very well !
Spiders have a very special job to do, and we should never harm them.
Some spiders spin webs from sticky silk, when an insect flies into the silk web it gets stuck.
Spiders eat insects like moth and flies; they also eat other spiders.
Some spiders live in our houses, some live in our gardens, and some live in ponds, lakes or rivers.
Female spiders lay eggs; some of them carry their eggs around on their backs in a silk cocoon.
When the eggs hatch lots of baby spiders crawl out; these are called spiderlings.
The spiders we have in Britain are harmless - they won't hurt or bite humans.
Extension: Looking for additional info on the internet e.g. photos etc
Thank you

Christmas Party
Thanks to a brilliant 🐞 team and volunteers, the Party was enjoyed by everyone. 🥳 🎉🎈
The children loved the different workshop areas, were they were busy making angels, adding festive stickers to their crowns, decorating biscuits and a Gingerbread House and filling bags with food for the reindeers.
Pass the parcel and other interactive games were played which was followed by a disco with special lighting effect until Father Christmas came to see the children.
He seemed quite impressed with our party programme when he had noticed the poster we had displayed on the entrance door.
A big thank you to everyone who made this morning so special by given their time and/or donated party food/drinks.
One child told his family that it was the best party ever. 🤗 🤗 🤗 🤗
Nativity musical Friday 13 December
Please ensure that the children are dressed in their costumes, and that parents/carers will be in time for a prompt start at 11.00 am.
The gates to the playground will be open for extra parking spaces.
Thank you
Newsletter 18 November 2019
Hello Everyone,
Just a little note to remind you that our Christmas Party will be on Tuesday10 December, 9:30am - 12:15pm.
for all children instead of Thursday 12 December, due to Election Day.
We will be making lots of Christmas arts and crafts followed by party games, a disco, party tea and a surprise visit from Santa at 11.45am!!
If you would like to donate some party food or/and would like to give us a helping hand,
please let a member of staff know.
The children have been busy rehearsing the Christmas songs for our Musical, which is on Friday 13 December.
As the second part of this 1/2 term is shorter than usual this year, we would appreciate
your support, in practising the songs with your children at home. Song sheets will be
available from tomorrow onwards.
This Newsletter will also be available on our website, as not all our parents/carers are on Facebook.
At last we have been connected to WIFI at work, which should make a difference to all of us to have access to the Internet.
🐞🙂👏
